Jeb is the Managing Partner for Fortis and one of its three co-founders. With 25 years of sales and leadership experience in Life Insurance and Estate Planning and a strong entrepreneurial spirit, Jeb is uniquely qualified to strategically lead the agency. 

Jeb was part of the 4th generation in his family to work in their automotive parts distribution business. A business started in downtown Fort Worth by his Great Grandfather R.R. Cogdell in 1921. He understands the entrepreneurial spirit of business owners. A spirit manifested in humble beginnings, hard work, reliable products, and neighborly care of customers. He also understands the importance of protecting their business with the right insurance. That includes life insurance that is properly structured and funded for partnership agreements, buy-sell agreements, and key-man.

Jeb also served 8 years working in the oil & gas industry throughout Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, and Brazil. As a Business Development Manager and Vice President of Operations, he was part of a team that represented global companies wanting to conduct business in the Exploration & Production markets of Mexico and Latin America. Companies like Halliburton/Landmark Graphics, Input/Output, Houston Geophysical, OYO Geospace, Industrial Vehicles International (IVI), Neuralog, Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS), and PetroScan. With a special focus on the accounts of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), Repsol-YPF, and Petróleo Brasileiro (Petrobras) Jeb also worked directly with network data solution providers NetApp (Network Appliance) and Auspex Systems in those markets.

Graduating in 1990 from The University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Economics, Jeb maintains native fluency in Spanish and functional proficiency in Portuguese. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Federation of Americans for Consumer Choice (FACC) helping to promote a level playing field for independent insurance professionals by advocating and influencing practices, regulations, and legislation that foster consumer choice. Jeb has served on the Tournament Committee for the PGA Tour’s “Charles Schwab Challenge” held at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth. He has also served in various capacities with the YMCA of Greater Houston, Recovery Resource Council, and Grace Bridge.

In his spare time Jeb enjoys hunting, fishing and cooking. Outside of deer and quail season, he can sometimes be found fishing the shallow waters of the Laguna Madre or camping and fishing the surf along the beaches of Padre Island National Seashore.
